Learning about and in nature
Nature park educational institutions such as schools, nurseries and after-school clubs are characterised by close collaboration with the local nature park and the local authority. This cooperation includes teaching about the natural and cultural landscape, regular outdoor lessons, a joint ‘Nature Park Action Day’, and training opportunities for teachers and nature educators.

The Sankt Lorenzen im Steinfelde primary school is the first nature park school in the Sierningtal-Flatzer Wand Nature Park. On 16 June 2023, in the presence of representatives from the Nature Parks of Austria, the Lower Austrian Nature Parks, the Lower Austrian Provincial Government and the municipality of Ternitz, the ceremonial presentation of the “Nature Park School” designation took place.
